Passion

I am working towards becoming a leader in the development of advanced, certifiable flight software by collaborating with bright engineers and applying my skills to challenging engineering projects. I leverage emerging technologies to develop automated flight control and pilot assistance systems, safety monitoring and contingency management systems, and navigation and sensor fusion algorithms. I develop powerful software tools for modeling and simulation, optimization and analysis, data processing and visualization, and much more. I enjoy learning new things and being inspired by others.

Robust Guidance and Control

Stable, High-Performing Reference Signal Tracking in the Presence of Disturbances and Uncertainties

Experience

Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer
Manassas, VA

June 2021 - Present

I led the preliminary design of the control system for the X-65 active flow control flight demonstrator vehicle. I am currently developing and testing the X-65 guidance and control algorithms while building common software tools for vehicle design and analysis processes, prioritizing efficient access to meaningful engineering data.

Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer
Everett, WA

July 2019 - June 2021

I was responsible for maturing the readiness level of various autonomous flight technologies, focusing on developing safe, reliable safety monitor and contingency management systems. I was heavily involved with the design and analysis of robust, high performing guidance and inner loop control algorithms. I built a dynamic flight displays application, out-the-window visualization system, and integrated my software with real flight controls hardware for realistic piloted flight simulation.

Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer
St. Louis, MO

Nov 2017 - June 2019

In this role I was primarily responsible for developing an efficient stability and performance analysis tool-chain and process. The technical computing solutions that I identified allowed for significant time savings in simulation and data processing. I was also leading software verification efforts prior to customer release of F/A-18 flight control computer operational flight program.

Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer
St. Louis, MO

July 2016 - Nov 2017

This role provided significant exposure to aircraft mission management systems and avionics integration. My primary responsibility was to support the F/A-18 Electrical System Integration Laboratory with test bench design, assembly, integration, test, and maintenance to support avionics testing.

Priorities

Safety and Quality

Safety is first and foremost my top priority. I am committed to develop safe, reliable engineering solutions that do not sacrifice the safety of myself, my teammates, and my customers.

Team Collaboration

I have learned that a well-functioning team dedicated to a shared common goal is crucial to successful project execution. I prioritize efficient team-collaboration and promote agile workflows to maximize team performance.

Effective Communication

The most innovative and exciting idea is worthless until communicated to the right people. Therefore I am constantly studying effective communication strategies demonstrated by industry leaders to improve both verbal and written communication skills.

Creative Problem Solving

My job is to solve problems. Luckily I get daily practice applying creative, critical thinking to identify sustainable solutions to various challenges in the product development cycle.

Sustainability

The aviation industry currently lags in the transition to clean energy resources and we, as a civilization, must adopt sustainable mobility solutions to protect what is left of our planet.
